Are you pleased with how the clinics have developed?
Yes, pleased so far as we have been able to provide service to so many needy people.

There have been some difficulties along the way. In London, we have met with a lot of obstruction from local business people and residents who’ve blamed Clinic 528 for everything that goes on in this area of town. It is easier to blame the Clinic than it is to take responsibility for dealing with the problems in an area.

But the clinic has brought many people with problematic lives out into the open. Their issues are more obvious when they are coming to our facility for treatment each day. Much of what we see here every day has previously just been a hidden problem.

It may be the first time that people have been forced to confront what goes on in their community. But research has clearly demonstrated that Methadone Maintenance Treatment results in reduced crime, improved health and that it allows stability in individual lives.
