So why do you work with those addicted and in recovery?
I think that in a nut shell - I can say that it is satisfying to work with people who are winners. I’ve been a competitive athlete in the past. It has been a way of life for me to work with those who strive to improve.

When you are working with people in recovery from addiction, you are effectively working with people who are winners - because they come here for the most part to get healthier. Not everyone is so motivated right from the beginning - and some are sicker than others.

But you see people functioning better in their lives - causing less harm to society and beginning to contribute again. Many do very well in treatment. But if others recover their health to even to a slight degree - it is good to work with something that is successful.

It is having the opportunity to provide a needed service. It is absorbing, satisfying and stimulating to work with people who just want to get better. Its’ something I sort of stumbled into - and I’m glad that is the way my career has gone.
