To lie is to state something that is known to be untrue. One who is lying is aware of the truth, but stating something otherwise than the truth.
Denial is different than Lying because one in denial does not see the truth. Those in deniel are misperceiving the truth. In a way, their mind in unknowingly lying to itself.
